What is Trust in Learning?

As much as we can love being with our kids, homeschooling sometimes makes life harder. Even with so many options ranging through part-time schooling, curriculums, co-ops, and unschooling, as complex families, we rarely fit completely in one box.

At the Trust in Learning 2011 Conference, our speakers will give you insight and tools to help your family have the conversations that will inform your educational choices. Instead of discussing methods and curriculums, we'll explore more foundational issues outlined below. Our goal is to inspire stronger relationships, a greater clarity of purpose, a deeper trust in our natural learning drives, and ultimately the ability to enjoy life together more.

Speakers will address:

  • How being a family is different from being a school
  • How children learn naturally through play
  • How the drive for learning changes through different developmental stages
  • How to live less coercively and make room for more internal motivation
  • How to negotiate collaboratively between the different needs and preferences within a family
  • How to successfully carry trust in the natural learning process through the middle and high school years

In addition the conference will offer:

  • An Enrichment Fair where families can connect with vendors who offer services for Austin-area homeschoolers.
  • A discussion group where we can support each other in our homeschooling journeys and ask questions
  • A Q&A panel with our speakers and experienced homeschoolers that will answer your questions from the conference

We hope you can join us.

- Larry & Susan Kaseman

"The important thing is, not to arrive at the goal that we set for ourselves but just to engage in the process."
